DP World, Kuehne Nagel and Chapman Freeborn Expand in Africa to Boost Sea-Air Connectivity

DP World, Kuehne + Nagel, and Chapman Freeborn are all expanding in Africa, with a focus on sea-air connectivity. DP World is developing the Berbera Economic Zone (BEZ) in Somaliland into a trade hub, taking advantage of its strategic location on a busy sea route and proximity to Ethiopia. Sea-air markets have the potential to transform connectivity in Africa, where the lack of viable intra-African land distribution networks, as well as customs clearance issues, make air travel appealing. Kuehne + Nagel is expanding its West Africa cluster, and Chapman Freeborn is expanding its African charter business. Chapman Freeborn is part of the Avia Solutions Group, which is looking for an AOC on the continent. As Middle Eastern countries compete for sea-air market share into Africa, the T&T Group sees an opportunity for freighter operators.
