MSC adds Jeddah Islamic Port to East Africa-Red Sea shipping services

According to the Saudi Ports Authority, shipping line MSC will add Jeddah Islamic Port to its East Africa-Red Sea and Red Sea shipping services (MAWANI). The new services, which will begin in March, will link Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdullah Port to the trade hubs of Djibouti, Mombasa, and Dar Es Salaam. For the weekly East Africa-Red Sea service, MSC will use four vessels, each with a capacity of 2,500 TEUs. MSC will also operate a bimonthly Red Sea service from Jeddah and King Abdullah ports to Port Sudan. This comes on the heels of a recent agreement between MAWANI and the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to establish a $260 million integrated logistics park.
