OOCL unveils massive 24,000 TEU container ship in its fleet

On February 16, an event was held in Nantong, China at the No. 2 outfitting quay of Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co. (NACKS), the company that built the new ship, to officially name it “OOCL Spain.” The OOCL Spain has a total length of about 400 m and a width of 61.3 m, and it can transport up to 24,188 TEU. The American Bureau of Shipping (“ABS”) has given the ship three “Smart Ship” notations.

This indicates that OOCL Spain’s operations will be improved by the ship’s usage of cutting-edge intelligent technology and large data collection. These optimizations provide advantages in structural health monitoring, fuel savings, and long-term navigational safety.
