  1. Contact the responsible agent for the shipment and stay informed based on the information they provide.

    1. Hey Apoorv, this is exactly what I used to do. But now when I have 250+ shipments on a monthly basis, it becomes very inefficient and difficult for me to get in touch with different service providers for a constant update on the ports. I think GoComet’s Port Congestion and Port Dwell report will definitely help you out here. I recently connected with the GoComet team to understand these tools and it has drastically reduced my efforts.

  2. logistics provider can provide updates on the status of the shipment and advise on the best course of action.
Apart from that if the congestion is severe, it may be worth considering alternative routes for your shipment.

  3. I ask my custom agent to keep track of port updates & be in touch with the shipping line daily.

  4. Try to stay in constant touch with Trucking and warehouse staff to manage pickup and delivery by keeping costs in check.

  5. Staying in constant touch with our shipping carriers. Contacting the shipping carrier as soon as we become aware of the congestion at the port. Since they are the primary holders of the information about the status of the shipments and can provide updates as the situation evolves.

  6. I check it via AIS vessel tracking of the vessel carrying my shipment. Depending on this, I plan my upcoming activities at the port
